My role included providing competitive quotes, site surveys, ordering project specific materials and plant, take off of quantities using a Calidus programme, checking sub-contractor invoices against work done, applying for payment from main contractors, providing variation costs, managing the pedestal manufacturing facility, and once work had been completed looking to agree the account. Whilst dealing mainly with main contractors I was also tasked with carrying out the monthly cost/value analysis for all projects so as to report to senior directors and provide monthly/project profit margins.Within this role I feel I have developed hugely and gained transferable experience that would be of great benefit to my next employer. Cellular Systems Limited Unit 1, Shell Green, Bennetts Lane, Widnes, WA8 0GW 6th September 2004 - 28th February 2007 Commercial Assistant/Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Working within the commercial department of this design and build company my role involved the costing of work for O2 for the installation of communications to new greenfield, rooftop and urban sites. This involved pricing work from drawings, site visits, and liaising with senior managers and O2 build managers. This price would then be submitted to be agreed and an order would be release to commence works. Once work had been completed I was then tasked with agreeing the account and picking up any variations during works. Bentley Nevada 2 Kelvin Close, Risley, Warrington 12th July 2004 - 3rd September 2004 Administrator – My role within this engineering company involved working closely under a project manager, helping to prepare documents, spreadsheets, and reports using Excel, Word, and Adobe. Environment Agency Richard Fairclough House, Knutsford Road, Warrington, WA4 1HG 29th April 2003 - 30th June 2004 Administrator – Based within NCPMS (Engineering) my role was mainly administrative, duties included payments to contractors for work which had been completed. This involved a lot of loaising with external parties and project managers. I also offered assistance to project managers on pricing of small works such as pump houses and aspects of small flood defence projects. The main programmes used within this position was Access to record and track payments, and Excel to aid in costing work. Education Physical Geography BSc Honours Liverpool John Moores University 1999 – 2002 This degree course was aimed at the physical environment including rivers, Geology, Climatology, and Glacial processes but also incorporated within it many transferable skills such as working with Office based computer programmes and using these programmes to present work to a group, as well as using these programmes to analyse data which could then be used in reports. The course itself covered many natural process studies but also offered me my first opportunity to develop surveying skills. Whilst working on this course I started to see the potential of working within the construction industry through working on modules looking at soil strength and testing soil samples to see what type of structures they could take. Other skills developed on this course was the use of programmes such as map and drawing reading and also GIS skills using Arcview. Carmel College, Prescot Road, St Helens 1997 – 1999 Three A-Levels including Geography, Design & Communication, General Studies. St Gregorys RC High School, Westbrook, Warrington 1992 – 1997 11 GCSE's including Mathematics, English (Language, Literature, & Speaking and Listening), Geography, Religion, History, Chemistry, Physical Education, French, Sciences. Specific Skills & Interests • Full clean driving licence held for 11 years • An eye for detail which has been demonstrated within my last role and ensure maximum profit from each item of work. • Extremely competent in computer programmes such as Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, Powerpoint, Avante, Calidus, GIS, and AutoCad. I also have strong keyboard skills and very confident using E-mail and the internet. • Experience of working on site, site health and safety and giving tool box talks to site operatives I also have a CSCS card. • Confident presentation of material to various size groups, and presentation of cost/value reports to senior members of staff. • I'm very keen on sport playing Football, Rugby, Running and Golf which I play every weekend.
